Stroud College and Lord Paul Drayson host Breakfast Seminar to Develop Engineering Training in Gloucestershire

On Friday 26thFebruary Stroud College and Lord Paul Drayson, Minister for Science & Innovation hosted a breakfast seminar to launch new Engineering training provision in Gloucestershire.

Lord Paul Drayson clearly outlined the strategic importance of Engineering to the future prosperity of the region. 

Beri Hare, Principal of Stroud College presented a compelling vision for Engineering training in Gloucestershire with a new centre built in partnership with the College, Employers, Agencies University of the West of England (UWE) and local Schools.  All these stakeholders attended the seminar and have committed to work together to deliver the vision. 

David Drew (MP) and David Hagg (Chief Executive Stroud District Council) outlined their support for this vision and the importance attached to the engineering sector.

Feedback from attendees was very positive with numerous businesses volunteering to attend a Task Group to deliver the vision.

In order to order to kick start the delivery of this vision, the College will launch a range of Engineering courses this September including Level 1 and Level 2 Engineering CAD (Computer aided design) and CAM (Computer aided Manufacture).    An Engineering Diploma will also be offered in partnership with Marling School.
