Stroud College’s School of Art & Design is regarded as one of the best in the country due to our superb state of the art facilities and professional, experienced staff. We have excellent facilities for studying including professional studios, workshops, design suites, specialist ceramics studios and an outstanding photography studio with a spacious darkroom.
All our teaching rooms are installed with high tech, modern equipment and software to deliver a first class teaching and learning experience.
Our excellence in this area has been recognised in past Ofsted inspection reports, where the department gained a Grade 1 for outstanding provision, ranking it as among the best in the country.
Our students have the opportunity to develop their individual talents and creative skills in a variety of ways. You will learn from highly qualified professionals, practising artists and designers: they will encourage your creative expression and help you develop as an individual artist or designer.
We are extremely proud of students and their successes. A recent success is one of our Art Foundation Degree students, David Chamberlain, who has been selected to exhibit at the ‘Jerwood Drawing Prize 2009’. You can read more on David’s story on our News page
If your choice is Media, you will have plenty of hands-on experience with full use of our equipment, digital editing suites, television studio and radio suites.
Our Music Technology courses take place in our purpose-built studio facilities and sound rooms to provide the skills needed to get ahead in the music business.
Students will be able to go on an educational trip to a European or UK city to explore different art cultures and practices. At the end of your course you will have an opportunity to present your work at the Stroud College Annual Art, Design and Media Exhibition, which is open to the public and has become a highlight in Gloucestershire’s cultural calendar.
