About This Course

NEBOSH Certificate courses are suitable for managers, supervisors, safety representatives and newly appointed safety advisers. No prior qualifications or experience are required.

The National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is the most widely held health and safety qualification in the UK. It is designed for those who require knowledge and understanding of health and safety risks and their management.

The course encourages delegates to adopt a practical approach towards health and safety and will provide the following learning outcomes:

  • Understand the legal framework, moral and economic requirements and the implications for good standards in health and safety within an organisation.
  • Develop, promote and communicate an effective health and safety culture in an organisation.
  • Identify the key features of a health and safety policy, the preparations and performance review of a health and safety audit.
  • Understand the importance of proactive and reactive health and safety monitoring measures.
  • Identify hazards in the workplace and carry out risk assessments, record findings and review procedures.
  • Advise on strategies for controlling hazards, reducing risks and applying safe systems of work.
  • Identify fire hazards and consequential risks, advise on measures to minimise fire risks and develop fire procedures.
  • Identify ill health effects of physical processes of work and the environment and recommend suitable measures to combat risks.
  • Explain the processes and procedures for investigating and reporting accidents at work.
How will I know how I am doing?

The practical examination (NGC3) will be integrated within the course attendance days.

Cost of the course including registration fees and a study book is £990.

Date & Times

The next course commences on 01 April 2010 and runs for a total of 11 weeks with the written examinations (NGC1 and NGC2) scheduled for 11th June 2010.
