This course covers a wide range of hairdressing skills and the underpinning theory. An apprenticeship allows you the flexibility of employment in a local hairdressing salon and the opportunity to work in our professional salons, being trained by highly skilled tutors using high quality products and equipment which is used within the industry.
NVQ Level 2 in Hairdressing will train you in essential skills required in hairdressing which will enable you to progress on to the Level 3 programme.

You will need at least 3 GCSE at grade D or above which should including English at grade C. You will also require the desire to work in the Hairdressing industry as a professional stylist and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English, attend an interview and take part in an industry standard trade test.
Over 18 months, working in the salon and attending college.
Assessment of practical work will take place in the workplace and within Stroud College state of the art salons. Theory will be delivered and assessed at college.
After you have completed your level 2 Hairdressing, you can progress on to our Level 3 course.
Hairdressing is a thriving and modern industry which is developing all the time. The opportunities within the industry are vast whether you become a mobile hairdresser, work in a busy salon, join the cruise ships, or work behind the scenes of TV, films, theatre.
Whatever you decide to do we have a dedicated careers adviser, aim higher co-ordinator and many employer talks to ensure you can make an informed choice.

You will require a hairdressing kit which will have all the equipment you will need for the duration of your course. As a professional working salon you will be required to purchase a specified uniform. There will also be costs toward trips to professional shows. Material fees will be required at enrolment.
